Nyamirambo Women’s Center was started in 2007 with the help of a Slovenian NGO called Peace Institute* and with the funds of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This partnership which allowed NWC to develop and strengthen its community activities ended in 2015. Another important donor was the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Rwanda, which funded one project for 2,5 years  (2009-2011).

Throughout the years NWC has also received and continues to receive countless donations from individuals and local organisations (such as the AIC in Kigali), which have allowed NWC to improve and expand it’s outreach within the community.

Since 2015 NWC’s main donor is the Swiss Association, A Tree for Rwanda. A tree for Rwanda is a non-profit association based in Zurich, Switzerland. The association’s sole goal is to provide financial support to the Nyamirambo Women’s Centre (NWC) in Kigali, Rwanda. The association organises individual fundraising events for and to groups, individuals and corporates. A Tree for Rwanda was founded in June 2014 with the sole and only goal to not only keep the dreams of NWC’s women alive but also to be able to support more women and their families, to enable access to education, building capacities and practical skills training for vulnerable groups of women, to enable access to books and introduce the reading culture (which is the foundation for successful learning) to the local population, especially children and youth, and to raise awareness about women’s rights and gender equality at the local level and to empower the most vulnerable women
